Which fine art paper is best suited for my images?

Like many of our products/services, this all comes down to personal preference! We recommend ordering Richard’s Paper Sample Pack to compare color and black & white prints on all of our fine art and photographic papers. Sample Packs are available for purchase in both the “Store” catalogue and “Cart” in ROES.

A few guidelines to help you decide are…

  • Glossy paper is best for deep blacks/shadows, while matte paper provides a softer look.
  • Consider how tone base effects your highlights and lighter tones—our papers range from a warmer, natural white to bright white.
  • Consider texture—oftentimes, less textured papers can complement a commercial/editorial style, while more textured papers tend to complement dreamy/romantic styles.
